Vigo di Fassa
The village is developing, in a sunny and panoramic position, on foot of the Group of Catinaccio. Vigo is a renowned winter and summer tourist resort and the starting point of excursions on the Dolomites groups. The village is also a blazing centre of craftsmen and building activities (carpentry, wood craftsmen), and of wood-pastoral activity.
This inhabited centre has had a great increase and it will join in the future with the near centre of Pozza.
Over the village there is the church of S. Giuliana, in Gothic style, with its slender bell-tower and the unique wood tile roof. In the apse it is possible to admire the original 15th century frescos, and on the northern face there are ten paintings representing the martyrdom of Santa Giuliana. Moreover there is a monumental wooden altar, carved and decorated with a Gothic triptych of the 1517 year.
